Fifteen Blogs We Read.

There is a blog for everything. Here are some of our favorites that have nothing—well, very little—to do with politics.

Food. (Yes, food comes first for us.)

Most of the food magazines (Food and Wine is a favorite) have excellent newsletters. So does The New York Times. Here are a couple of others:

• Eater. All things food, sometimes including politics. Separate newsletters for many U.S. cities, and London, that keep you up to date on restaurant openings and closings.

• Food 52. Also all things food, including curious information, like what happens to carrots in the fridge when they are kept near apples. Lots of kitchen gadgets for sale. Recipes.

Art, Architecture, Design.

Art, architecture and design are constantly evolving. Keep up with these!

• Artsy. Art fairs have taken over the art world. Artsy covers them, and offers art for sale.

• Dezeen. Gorgeous pictures, architecturally interesting homes and other buildings, and design ideas for everyone.

• Daniella On Design. Smart, educated, fascinating blog about great design.

• Hyperallergic. Art gossip, with a political slant. Based in Brooklyn, naturally.

• YIMBY. Real estate gossip. Covers New York, of course, but also several other cities and states in the U.S.

Science, Medicine, the Future.

Even if you are not a total geek, it;s good to keep up with what’s being discovered or invented.

• Gizmodo. Gizmodo purports to bring the future to us. Quirky ideas from the world of science—which is to say, our world. Lots of gadgets, often very interesting ones.

• STAT. Science with a strong focus on health, health tech, pharma. Essential reading during COVID.

• WIRED. WIRED magazine has a great daily newsletter that gives you breaking science and the business and cultural implications of those breakthroughs.

• Futurity. Research from universities around the world. With stunning pictures.

Travel.

Travel companies have great newsletters, as do magazines like Departures. Here are two other quirky ones:

• Atlas Obscura. Fascinating stories about fascinating places. Glorious pictures.

• Untapped New York. OK, for us this is not really a travel site, but it has all kinds of cool information about the city.

The Neighborhood.

Ours is NYC. Yours surely has gossipy blogs too.

• ZandlSlant. Quirky news about NYC, and trends elsewhere.

• For those who live in Tribeca, or nearby, Tribeca Citizen. Who’s opening or closing, local newsmakers.
