The Academy Awards were last night, so we decided it was a good time to list ten of our favorite movies featuring older women.

1. Calendar Girls. Posing nude for a good cause.

4. Nyad. Never, ever, give up.

5. The Last of the Sea Women. Still diving, and facing daunting odds, into their 90s.

6. Eye in the Sky. A tense military thriller, and a firm commander.

7. Philomena. A woman facing up to the bad old days.

8. Thelma. An action heroine at 93.

9. Woman in Gold. Taking on the government to get what’s hers.

10. The Joy Luck Club. Mothers and daughters.
