Five Things To Do This Spring.

By Erica and Karen

  1. Go somewhere you have never been before. If you are in New York City, go to the very newly opened Moynihan Train Hall. Explore it thoroughly—the building is beautifully renovated and art surprises are everywhere. Wherever you are, let us know what interesting place you plan to visit, especially if it did not exist BC (Before COVID).

  2. Go somewhere you have been often, but not since BC. For us, it might be The Cloisters, an assembly of buildings brought to the United States by an American sculptor and then acquired by John D Rockefeller, Jr. in the early part of the twentieth century for the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The Cloisters is set in a lovely park designed by Frederick Law Olmstead, Jr. The buildings are magnificent, the gardens will soon be brilliant as spring blooms, and the Cloisters’ perch high above the Hudson is breathtaking.

  3. Go out to eat—outside or inside—at a restaurant that has just opened. Or reopened. Spend lavishly.

  4. Buy one really colorful new accessory to signal to yourself, and everyone else, that you are back to being a citizen of the world. Your hermit days are over. Bright pink flats would not be a bad start.

  5. Donate to a cause you believe in.

  1. Yesterday (March 24, 2021), I donated several hundred dollars worth of dog and cat food and supplies to the County Roads Rescue in the Piney Woods of Jacksonville, Texas. This non-profit rescue was formed to save animals from the Cherokee County high-kill shelters. Recent Facebook posts indicate an extremely high number of puppies and kittens in need of forever homes. It’s a worthy cause that needs to be supported at the local rescue shelter wherever you live.
