Twelve Resources For Political Action.

By Erica and Karen

I

f you are among those who do not agree with some of the efforts under way to change the political landscape of the United States, and want to know what you might do to express your views, here are some resources.

  • Indivisible

    • Local Indivisible groups build and wield power in ways that individuals can’t. To create change, you need the collective constituent power that comes with working together, as Indivisibles.

  • SwingLeft

    • Swing Left helps win elections for Democrats by making it as easy as possible for anyone to have maximum impact on the elections that determine the balance of power in our country.

  • Field Team Six

    • The solution [to change outcomes] is as simple as it is powerful: reaching out to strangers. It’s the proven #1 way to win elections. Did you know that 60% of unregistered voters have never been asked to register?

  • Markers for Democracy

    • Markers for Democracy is dedicated to building and maintaining an inclusive and educated grassroots community focused on saving American democracy. We achieve this through daily engagement in postcard writing and other forms of activism to promote the election of Democrats up and down the ballot all over the country.

    Sister District

    • At Sister District, we’re proud to share the measurable impact we’ve made in 2024 and beyond. From helping elect progressive candidates to providing critical support for power building organizations on the ground that advance equity and justice, our community of volunteers and donors has been at the forefront of change. Together, we’re strengthening democracy at every level.

  • Third Act

    • Our seasoned generation holds unparalleled power to enact real change. Using our life experiences, skills, and resources, we unite to tackle the unfinished work of our lifetimes and ensure a safe and stable planet for generations to come.

  • Red Wine and Blue

    • Red Wine and Blue is a national community of over half a million diverse suburban women working together to defeat extremism, one friend at a time. We train and connect women from across the country of all political backgrounds – including many who have never been political before – to get sh*t done and have fun along the way.

  • BigTent USA

    • At BigTentUSA we put democracy above partisanship. And we’re building a women-led voter coalition that does just that. We care about protecting the guardrails of democracy, ensuring government accountability and transparency, and increasing civic participation.

  • The States Project

    • State legislatures determine whether millions of Americans have jobs that can support their families, quality affordable healthcare including abortion access, good schools, and clean air and water. That’s why we build power for state lawmakers, the most important policymakers in the country, to improve lives.

  • RepresentUs

    • RepresentUs is America’s leading nonpartisan grassroots organization fighting for a government accountable to the people. We unite people from all backgrounds to defend democracy, root out corruption, mobilize action, and support campaigns at every level to hold leaders accountable and build a political system that truly serves the public.

  • Principles First

    • We are a nationwide grassroots movement of people who share a love of American democracy and concern for the direction of our existing conservative leadership. We’re building an alternative to the partisan doom-loop. Principles First holds an annual Summit in Washington, D.C. to serve as an alternative to CPAC. We convene local chapters to effect change at the community level. We elevate principled leaders around the country. And we speak out as a voice of clarity at a time when cheap partisan tribalism has become the norm.

  • ACLU

    • The ACLU has evolved from [a]  small group of idealists into the nation’s premier defender of the rights enshrined in the U.S. Constitution. With more than 1.1 million members, 500 staff attorneys, thousands of volunteer attorneys, and offices throughout the nation, the ACLU of today continues to fight government abuse and to vigorously defend individual freedoms including speech and religion, a woman’s right to choose, the right to due process, citizens’ rights to privacy and much more.
