Force Multiplier: A Strategy to Win the Midterms and Help Save Democracy.
Force Multiplier works to counter the threats to our democracy from an authoritarian regime and secure victory in the 2026 midterms. To do that, they conduct data-driven research to identify the most impactful candidates, groups and actions to support. Hear about their strategy from two Force Multiplier leaders.
Laura Weisel is the Force Multiplier Co-Chair as well as the Fundraising Committee Co-Chair. She joined Force Multiplier in early 2018, just before she retired as the Executive Director of Harvard Catalyst, The Harvard Clinical and Translational Science Center, as well as the Executive Director of the Football Players Health Study at Harvard. Previously she held senior administrative roles at other not-for-profit institutions including Oxfam America and WNYC. Laura holds degrees in Political Science from Williams College and a Masters in Public and Private Management from the Yale School of Management. Laura lives with her partner Neil, is the mother of two boys and one noisy dog. Laura loves to ask people to step up and make financial investments in democracy and Democratic Congressional candidates…. Sometimes they say ‘yes’, and that feels good.
Anne Weisberg retired in 2022 to focus on political activism and is so glad she found Force Multiplier. She is on the Leadership Team and chairs the Force Multiplier Communication Committee. Last year, she ran against a MAGA incumbent for State Rep in CT, where she lives with her husband. She lost, but has not given up the fight! She has since gotten involved with fighting autocracy through her local chapter of Indivisible. Before FM, Anne spent her career advocating for diversity, equity and inclusion, with a focus on women. She directed Women in Law: Making the Case (Catalyst, 2001) and is the co-author of two books, Everything a Working Mother Needs to Know (Doubleday 1994) and Mass Career Customization: Aligning the Workplace with Today’s Nontraditional Workforce (HBS Press, 2007) as well as numerous articles and op-eds. She has held senior DEI roles at Paul, Weiss, BlackRock and Deloitte, and teaches Inclusive Leadership to MBA students at NYU. She is the 2024 recipient of the Celebration Award from Harvard Law School for her work advancing women in law. In addition to her Harvard Law education, Anne holds a degree from University of California-Berkeley in Political Economy of Natural Resources.
