Lying to the President?
By Erica and Karen
President Trump has said some false things, like that he would have won the popular vote had millions of illegal aliens not voted illegally. Now he plans an investigation into that illegal voting.
Why does President Trump believe this canard? His press secretary says he believes it based on information someone has given him. We are starting to wonder if someone is lying to the President. Is someone giving him alternative facts even though that person knows they are false, for the purpose of having the President do something? Or not do something? Like take action against Russia? If so, that person is likely violating the law. The knowing and willful making of a materially false or fictitious statement to the President to influence a matter within the jurisdiction of the executive branch may be a felony.
So the President might want to consider the sources of his information. He would not want to consort with criminals, or make policy based on lies. And if there is to be an investigation, the investigation should encompass the purveyor of any false information to the President.
