Ten Things To Do This August.
By Erica and Karen
-
Sit under a shady tree and read a book by Jackie Collins.
-
Take a long walk at dawn, before it gets too hot.
-
Find a grassy spot beside a river, or a lake, or the ocean, to have cocktails with three friends. Bring tall glasses, a cooler with Campari and soda, some ice, some orange slices, a few creamy cheeses and some seedy crackers. Do it on an evening with a full moon.
-
Find some fireflies. Visit them at dusk and marvel at these magical points of light. (No need to put them in jars.)
-
Attend a play, preferably Shakespeare, in a park.
-
Buy a Panama hat. Change the band to highlight your outfit. Or your earrings.
-
Go to a farmers market. Buy way too much produce and then make an amazing dinner. Here are some ideas from Bon Appetit and Epicurious.
-
Sport some big red earrings. If you wear them with the Panama hat, make a red ribbon band.
-
Ask a friend with a perfectly located beach house to invite you over. Bring champagne, and behave, so you will be invited back.
-
Wear only white linen.
