It’s Here! Lustre 2.0!

By Erica and Karen

Big news! We have launched Lustre 2.0!

We retired quite a few years ago, and we founded Lustre almost seven years ago. Since then, we have learned a lot about the retirement journey, from living it ourselves and from the stories you, our readers, have told us. We have all learned that the initial unease and shock give way to new projects and heightened energy. We have learned that retirement involves both purpose and fun. Most of us are thrilled with how the world has opened up for us.

To share what we have learned, we changed everything–building on what we had already done, just as we did when we retired. And we came up with some new ideas we think you will like.

  • The new Lustre website opens with an inspiring video that encapsulates who we all are, and where we are going, together. We guarantee it will make you proud.

  • On the site, our vast editorial content is reorganized. These posts tell our story, as we lived it-–and the stories you have told us along the way.

  • The content has been divided into two main categories–Confronting Retirement, about how retirement feels at first, and then what you can do to create a new path that will be rich and rewarding; and Styling Retirement, which offers ideas and resources for spending your well earned time.

  • You can explore it all, starting wherever you want—with the shock at the beginning, or with the pivot as you figure it out, or with the fun stuff you now have time for–style, travel, home.

  • For the fun part, Lustre Introduces The Lustre List---an interactive, reader-sourced platform for sharing what Lustre Ladies enjoy—where we go, what we do, where we shop. The List will only get better as we all contribute.

  • To bring us all together, Lustre invites you to a program of Lustre speakers and events--virtual and live–featuring interesting and accomplished people chosen with you in mind.

  • To keep us all current, we invite you to the weekly Susan Show—a half an hour roundup of news with a veteran reporter unlike anyone you see on regular media.

Our weekly subscriber newsletter now includes links not only to the most recent posts, but also to gems from the past. The newsletter will incorporate a weekly survey question, and answers from the previous week; readers’ stories; a highlight from the Lustre List; and more.

We hope you will find Lustre 2.0 to be even better than the original. Please spend some time exploring the site—the video, the editorial content, the Lustre List, and everything else. Let us know what you think! And tell us what else you might like.

Thanks for joining us on this journey.
