Classic….try to dress in what is my own style, not following fads. Simple but flattering. My daughter refuses to allow me to wear things that make me ‘look old.’ She’s about to turn 30 and I will be 67 my next birthday!
I think my personal style is smart casual. In my early years working in a office, I always were skirts & dresses with stockings and closed toed shoes. Slacks were only worn on Fridays and they would be worn with a blazer. I’m 5’1”, so I always wore heels. Now, at 62, the office attire has become quite casual where I work. After Covid, I started to dress more casually, for example, I like to wear jeans paired with a blazer and/or smart blouse or dress slacks paired with more casual tops, or for example a moto jacket, for a slight edgy look – I love it. Due to feet problems I was born with, I can no longer wear heels which has been a challenge for me. Fortunately, stylish sneakers are in and tall, low heeled boots look great with skirts and dresses and some smart low heeled sandals. I also have my active wear, for bicycling, kayaks, love my skorts. I will be retiring in a couple of months and my smart casual wardrobe will transition well into my new role as a free agent 🙂
I am in the design industry so I work to brand myself. I choose Casual Taos, a change from years of black and white. Desert colors, loose clothes, tennis shoes and Birkenstocks. Short, short white/grey hair for a 5 minute style. Minimum makeup, but only when necessary. No makeup for vacations which include hiking and bike riding. I care how I look, but I like what I wear. Capsule wardrobe with limited choices. All make this part of my life easy and breezy.
