Women Are A Supermajority. Now They Can Act Like One.

We recently heard about Supermajority an organization that seeks to harness the power of women acting collectively. The group was founded by Black Lives Matter co-founder Alicia Garza, former Planned Parenthood chief Cecile Richards, and executive director of the National Domestic Workers Alliance, Ai-jen Poo. Its mission:

Supermajority is a membership-based organization that affirms and builds women’s power and serves as a one-stop shop for advocacy, community building, and electoral participation aimed at transforming our country and building an intergenerational, multiracial movement for women’s equity.

Supermajority aims to mobilize at least 2 million women over the next year to become political leaders within their communities. "We’ve been the majority of voters in every national election since 1964. In 2018, women helped elect a Congress with a record-breaking 127 women members," the group says. But, while "women are on the cusp of becoming the most powerful force in America," Supermajority's co-founders say that to "fundamentally transform this country" women must work together.  The website states:

Women are marching, running for office, donating to and advocating for causes and campaigns, and voting in record numbers. We can be the most powerful force in America—if we do the work together.

We love the idea—especially the intergenerational part! We love the video. And we love this statement on Supermajority’s site:

One woman can be ignored, two can be dismissed, but together, we’re a Supermajority, and we’re unstoppable.

These ideas echo our own. Like Supermajority, we celebrate the potency of women working together.
