The Face Lift: An Update.

Lustre note: A few months ago The Diva’s really interesting day-by-day description of her facelift process was posted. You can see it here. We asked her how she felt about it now that a little time had passed—and of course since the world has turned upside down. Here’s what she had to say:

When I look in the mirror these days, I am unrecognizable—not because of the facelift I wrote about months ago but because I have no eyelashes, am seeing my real hair color for the first time in decades, have chipped nail polish and the driest feet I have ever seen!  

What I see that I do love is my face—after seven months, I am so glad I did this and could not be happier with the results. The best part for me (might not be what some would want to hear) is that no one looks at me strangely or asks me what I did. I get a lot of “wow, you look amazing—did you change your hair?” or “you look so great—your dress is gorgeous” and similar things. When I tell people (and I do tell some) what I did, they are stunned. They say they have never seen such natural work. For some, that might mean they didn’t do enough—for me, it is perfect. My greatest fear was that I would not look like myself. Happily, I do.  

I would say I look about ten to fifteen years younger—while I am just shy of being able to get in to Whole Foods for the one hour early shopping, I bet I would get carded!

And, as for anything not quite right, I would say that there is still some odd numbness/tingling in my ears and in a spot or two on the side of my face. Nothing that bothers me constantly or that I regularly notice, but it is there. The doctor did say that could last nine to ten months, so I am due for a follow-up visit when this is all behind us. Really a v small complaint.

We are all spending a lot of time looking in the mirror these days, so if you are inclined for a little work post-isolation, I hope my story has been helpful.
