A Rocking Chair And Seven Good Books.
By Karen and Erica
A long time ago, someone gave one of us the perfect winter gift: a rocking chair, the entire Lord Peter Wimsey series, and a bottle of cognac.
We still think reading a wonderful book while rocking, with or without a fire, is the height of winter luxury. Here is a list of some books we might suggest if you have everything else you need:
The Snow Child, Eowyn Ivey. A retelling of a fantastical folk tale. Beautiful.
A Christmas Memory, Truman Capote. Capote’s writing is just amazing.
A Christmas Carol, Charles Dickens. Of course you have read it before, so you know you should read it again. And see the movie.
Holidays on Ice, David Sederis. Funny stories, and some not so funny. Excellent writing.
The Polar Express, Chris van Alsberg. Yes, it is a children’s book, but perfect. You will enjoy it.
The Gift Of The Magi, O. Henry. A heartwarming tale for the season. Yes, you probably have read this too.
The Christmas Bookshop: A Novel, Jenny Colgan. Do you love bookstores?
Luxuriate in warmth and words!
