Ten Things We Love About Late Summer. And Five We Don’t.

By Karen and Erica
- Enormous flowers bursting with a summer’s worth of energy and color.
- Tomatoes. And corn. And zucchini.
- Double scoops of ice cream. Strawberry and vanilla. Sugar cones.
- Full moons with names like Buck and Sturgeon and Corn that fill the early evening with limpid light.
- Dinner outside–in a garden, or on a terrace, or at a sidewalk cafe–with friends.
- Floaty clothes–light dresses, wide leg pants, linen tops. And wide-brim hats.
- Plays and movies and concerts en plein air.
- Little rain storms that surprise and cool.
- Early evening baseball games, and Cracker Jack.
- Convertibles. Preferably red. With their tops down. Many bonus points for ’68 Mustangs.
Five things we don’t.
- HHH weather.
- Lanternflies.
- Seeing winter clothes in shop windows.
- That Labor Day marks the end of summer.
- Not having a few more weeks to enjoy what we love about late summer.
We want to hear what you have to say.
