Five Ideas Each For Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.
By Karen and Erica
We salute the President and VIce President Elect. We are very excited that a woman, and a Black woman at that, will finally hold the office of Vice President. We are certain she is right—she is the first but not the last.
And of course we have some advice for the new administration:
For President-Elect Biden:
-
Deploy the advantages of your age. You have many decades of political and personal experience that allow you to think big.
-
Listen to our cohort when an issue affects people 65 and over.
-
Listen to our cohort when an issue affects people 65 and under.
-
Apply your problem-solving skills to give the people what they need. Most Americans, whoever they voted for, want the same things: an end to COVID, a good job, an excellent education for their children, a secure home and three meals a day, not necessarily in that order.
-
Use retirees. We can amplify your strengths. Consider establishing America’s Future Corps.
For Vice President-Elect Harris:
-
Diversity brings strength. Remember that diversity includes age.
-
Pay heed to those politicians who learned to be effective by listening to their adversaries.
-
Keep employing style to convey how a woman exercises power.
-
Channel the power of women to bring about a stronger America.
-
Use retirees. We have years of experience. Advocate for America’s Future Corps.
Good luck and godspeed.
